I have participated in more or less weekly counselling sessions for the last 5 months following a difficult year leaving myself and other family members struggling with aspects of anxiety and depression causing me to feel overwhelmed and uncertain.
From the first session, I was made to feel very welcome and comfortable and throughout our sessions together, we discussed and explored a wide variety of topics and at no point did I feel judged – in fact I was reassured and frequently validated in my thoughts and feelings as I chose to talk about them.
Through counselling, I have been
- helped to reconnect with myself and family members,
- provided with tips and techniques to help myself manage everyday life,
- able to let go of issues and burdens I have been carrying for too long and
- supported and encouraged to create a positive and hopeful outlook for the future
Words cannot express the gratitude I feel for the care and support I have received as well as the practical suggestions and reassurances that I am not the “failure” I thought I was when we started together.
I feel able to face my future with hope and enthusiasm, equipped with strategies and techniques to use if I feel myself getting stuck, with the safety net that I can always book a further session or so if I feel I need it.
